April was born in Columbia, S.C.. She graduated with an undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston, and holds a degree in Physician Assistance from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. She has been practicing as a physician assistant since 1996. Before relocating to Atlanta, GA where she currently lives, she worked in a community health center helping the under-served who found it difficult to find affordable healthcare. Since 2007, she has worked in breast health and is certified in breast ultrasonography.
She loves practicing as a physician assistant, as it falls in line with her belief that she is a natural caretaker. She enjoys building a relationship with her patients, and strives to make them feel very comfortable with communicating their health concerns. Her goal is to ensure that each patient she encounters has a pleasant experience at their visit, and that they are guaranteed to be met by her with a big smile! She loves interacting with different kinds of people; hearing about their lives, their concerns and making them feel comfortable with their care and treatment for their medical conditions. She has an active lifestyle, and tries to adhere to the same healthy practices that she advises her patients to follow.
In her role here at Outdone with Ovarian Cancer, she brings all of the compassion and concern that she has for her patients to the countless women who are dealing with this diagnosis, and she will use her medical knowledge to assist us in a targeted, tactical approach to making a difference.
